I’m Laura Freināte, an artist and tutor with more than 15 years of experience teaching figure drawing and anatomy. I’ve taught in higher art education and worked with ballet dancers at the Latvian National School of Arts, helping them understand anatomy through movement.

Among my former students is Gints Zilbalodis, whom I taught anatomy for artists for two years during his studies. His animated film Flow is a winer of the 2025 Oscar for Best Animated Feature and was also nominated for Best International Film. Seeing students develop their skills and go on to achieve success like this is one of the most rewarding aspects of my teaching.

My teaching style is practical and interactive. I teach anatomy for artists with a focus on movement and facial expressions, showing how the body and face truly come alive in art. During the pandemic, I developed a method I call Visual Feedback—drawing directly on photos of student work to demonstrate corrections. This approach gives artists clarity while encouraging independence in their creative process.

After moving to Ireland and studying at University College Dublin, I began working internationally as an online art coach. Today, I connect with artists worldwide, offering personalized feedback and mentorship. My goal is to make learning anatomy clear, supportive, and inspiring—so that every artist feels confident to grow and explore their own style.

Alongside anatomy, I also teach graphics techniques and lead community workshops, including this year’s Culture Night event in Ireland.
